In brief

Plinky is a browser-only application. Your settings, your progress and your recordings are stored only locally in your browser; we do not collect them or transmit them to a server. There are no user accounts and no advertising. By default there is no analytics and no tracking. Only if you explicitly enable it in the settings is an anonymous usage analysis (Google Analytics) loaded — and you can switch it off again at any time.

Hosting and server log files

The website is delivered as static files via GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When the page is requested, the host processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, the date and time of access and the amount of data transferred, in order to deliver the page and keep operations secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable delivery (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Any transfer to the USA relies on the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Local storage in your browser

To run the app we use your browser's local storage — for example for your settings, your practice progress and saved recordings. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be deleted at any time via the settings or your browser. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (providing a functional, convenient app).

Fonts

Fonts are loaded from our own server. No external services such as Google Fonts are used, so no data is transmitted to third parties in this respect.

Third-party content (news banner)

A notice banner with current news may appear on the home page. Its contents are loaded on request from the content service Sanity (Sanity.io, Denmark, EU). For technical reasons your IP address is transmitted to the provider in order to deliver the content. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. If the request fails, the app continues to work unchanged.

Web analytics with Google Analytics

If — and only if — you enable the anonymous usage analysis in the settings, we embed Google Analytics 4 (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). It helps us understand which features are used, so we can improve Plinky. Anonymised usage data is processed in the course of this; Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by switching the analysis off again in the settings. A transfer to the USA may take place; it relies on Google's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can find more information in Google's privacy policy.

Contacting us by email

If you write to us by email, we process the information you provide solely in order to handle your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR).
